  With 8 million members there's no way they're going bankrupt. Each member could donate $1 each month and it would tide them over.

  One dollar a month would barely cover the cost of the COs car, gas, insurance, food, clothing, and housing allowances*. Much less all the branches and all the kingdom halls. I don't think any of us know what the Societies costs are. But 8 million dollars a month doesn't go very far when you're a multinational corporation.

  They need a lot more than that to stay afloat.

  *Each CO is responsible for roughly 1-2 thousand people. So one dollar a month from each person would only be 1-2 thousand dollars per month. Even with low living costs they still consume a sizable chunk of that money each month.

  i know this question has popped up from time to time but i really would like to know how you guys, those that no longer believe, came to that conclusion?

  was it the wts and all its crap?

  was it something you read?

  Because things which don't exist - and thing for which there is no evidence - appear identical.

  That's why it takes evidence and reason to move us from a lack of belief in something to belief.

  Or, to put it in slightly more pithy terms: Having no good reason to believe something is at least one good reason not to believe it.

  Any funny stories of when a"brother" giving a talk, said something "funny" or "questionable", and didn't even realize it?

  there were always all types of speakers in the org.

  myself, growing up a "witness", must have heard all types of talks, and given by all manner of speakers, especially on sundays, when almost every week we would get a "visiting" brother giving the public talk.. sometimes, you would have a "great" speaker, all fluent and animated.

  other times we would get a comical speaker, one who would maybe purposelly get a few laughs outta the audience.

  I remember when I was seven or eight baggy clothes had just entered the scene as the hallmark of the 90s and when the CO visited and asked the question, "Do you know why these boys today wear baggy pants?" He then leaned into the microphone and said in a booming voice, "Quick sex - that's why!"

  That was the first time I remember thinking - this information is supposed to be from God?

  Wow, that really puts it into perspective doesn't it. A child molester is just as dangerous - if not more dangerous - than someone smashing out car windows.

  Common misconception. A dyson sphere isn't necessarily a solid object. It's a "sphere" made out of billions of satellites around a star (sometimes also called a Dyson Swarm).

  Also, I'm not sure how you came to your calculations on size but we know that - whatever this is - it most certainly is NOT a planet or a high mass object. The wobble of the star, the amount of light being blocked, and the orbital period of the dimming all show this.

  Do i still believe in GOD?

  hi, everyonei not new new... i have been here before under a different user, i just forgot my log-in info after a long time...so i created a new one.i from time to time post something.

  usually i just like reading post, cuz you guys are great.i consider myself a atheist.

  i came to this conclusion a few years ago, but i think i have always been skeptical about god's existence.i dont ever remember having experiencing the holy spirit, or anything supernatural good or evil, so i cannot relate to people who have.i always thought i was good person (never steal, fornicated or hurt anyone), yet never felt blessed by god.

  And here I thought they were fleeing because half the country is ruled by a murdering psychopath who gas' his own people and the other half of the country is run by jihadist who will chop your head off and gun down whole villages if you don't accept their exact interpretation of Islam.
